Take The Plunge With Vintage Fashion

I am a big fashion fan. And as a big fashion fan, I love the challenge of hunting for good vintage pieces. If you are like me you’ll know that having a good vintage piece in your wardrobe is priceless. Priceless is the word I would use in describing my latest vintage necklace.

Vintage fashion has always transported me into a different era. It sits me down, makes me a nice cup of tea in very a delicate china cup and tells me the amazing stories of that era. But to be brutally honest, I am more interested in the sparkle it adds to my wardrobe.

Good vintage pieces are not just a heap of used clothes. They are good quality pre-owned clothes you spend extra pounds on. They are clothes that have stood the test of time. An example of a good piece is this 1970s tailored, timeless and very stylish Windsmoor wool and cashmere coat I treated myself to on Saturday.

How to buy your first vintage

Vintage Windsmoor Wool and Cashmere Coat

This predominantly wool coat looks deceptively plain but amazing looking on my body. I was not sure about the coat when I saw it in the shop. It looked good but conservatively lonely on the clothes rail. The shopkeeper, whom I have built a good rapport with, convinced me to try it on. Reluctantly, I did and I was speechless because it transformed me into a young Pam Griera  in the 70s. I just had to have it! After giving the coat a quick sniff and checking that the fabric was still in very good condition, I paid for it and went hunting for more.

The Dress for Success

The Dress for Success

I found this pink/peach dress on eBay, and it looks amazing in real life. It’s is 1970s vintage. It is not to everybody’s taste because of its bright colours. However, over the years I have realised that bright colours looks great on my dark skin. I can’t wait to show off  this dress during the summer months. It will look great with trainers.DSC_0210 (1)

This dress was also bought off  a trader on eBay. I am not sure what era this fab dress belongs to. I think it is a 60s number. If you know, please leave a comment for me. This is another dress that I could not resist buying.

As I have always said to the people who read my blog, vintage fashion means you’ll always be the only girl in that outfit.

I really hope showing you my latest purchases will convince those of you who are high street addicts to go vintage shopping.

At 23, I left Nigeria where I was born and moved to England. In England, I got my Law degree and married John. I like things to be tidy and organised but as a working mum with young daughters, that is hard to achieve. But thanks to John, I have coped so far. If you'd to know more, it's all on my about page.

  1. Yvonne, great treasures! Love the last dress, it must be indeed from late 60s.
I share the love to vintage with you.
“..vintage fashion means you’ll always be the only girl in that outfit” – I am so agree. It is annoying to see crowds wearing the same clothes again and again and even more annoying to be a part of such crowd. Vintage pieces do stand out and give us back our individuality.
